In 2015, the University of Haifa hosted the 1st Science Based Management and Economy of Marine and Coastal Resources convention, which represented the collaboration between three leading research projects.

• The DESSIM project - A Decision Support system for the management of Israel’s Mediterranean Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) led by Dr. Gideon Gal, Kinneret Limnological Laboratory, Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research
• The SBM project - Science Based Management of Marine and Coastal Resources led by Prof. Dan Tchernov, Marine Biology Department, The Leon H.Charney School of Marine Sciences, University of Haifa.
• The Ecosystem services' assessment in the Israeli Mediterranean project – assessment of the benefits of marine ecological system led by Dr. Shiri Shamir Zemah, The Natural resource and Environmental Research Center, University of Haifa.

The subject for this second and final convention is 'Anthropogenic Impacts to the Mediterranean Sea'.

Leading researchers from Israel and abroad (Dr. Fiorenza Micheli, Dr. Camille Parmesan, and Dr. Manel Gazo) will give key lectures again, in our 2nd convention 19-20 June 2018 will lecture at this special conference. The conference will be held in English. Participation is free of charge, registration is mandatory.
